Detail for insulating below ground where an existing door, with a step, is to be retained. For use where floor void inaccessible by usual means and is not possible to lift whole floor.
Using a granular insulating infill below an existing concrete stone step increases the thermal efficiency of the building thermal envelope, and prevents cold bridging through the existing door threshold.
Technical description
Section detail. EWI below ground to retained existing door, new concrete flag step and door step support.
Please refer to Approved document M (access).
Granular insulation infill to minimum 300mm from level of internal floor finish to prevent thermal bridging.
